A poem for lovers

I want to make love with you all night as if the sunrise itself is counting on us to herald its arrival.

I want to kiss you tenderly underneath the naked trees bathed in nothing but moonlight.

I want to swim inside the sound of your voice as you sing to me alone in a crowded room.

I want to touch your skin with every part of my body.

I want to feel your embrace in every part of my lonely soul.

I want to know what it is to be enough and not too much – never too intense, too strange, too much, or too bizarre.

I want to know how it feels to wake up next to you for the first time.

I want to be there by your side when you wake for the last time.

And when I have lived out all the days I have been given in this life, I want yours to be the face that guides me home.
