A piece of toxic positivity popped up on my news feed again today and I have something I need to say about it.

Let me start by saying that I am one who genuinely believes in the power of prayer. Whether a higher power is listening to the prayers and whether or not that higher power responds to our prayers is besides the point. Prayer is a form of meditation. It rallies our energy, focus, and the power of our will – both individually and collectively when prayer takes place in a group.

However, prayer is not always an appropriate response for any given situation.

While prayer indeed has it’s place, we should all be wary of statements containing absoulutist language – words like “always” and “every.”
