Happy International Woman’s Day! I would like to use this occasion to bring your attention to the plight of Melissa Lucio. She is a mother who has been wrongfully accused of murdering her 2-year old daughter in what truthfully was a tragic accident. Not only has she been incarcerated away from the rest of her children for the past 14 years, but the state of Texas is planning execute her in less than a month’s time. Today she is a survivor of domestic violence, but she sheds that title and becomes a martyr the moment Texas executes this brave and courageous woman. It is abundantly clear that Texas hates survivors who speak up. Texas hates mothers. Texas hates women.
